Introduction to psychogeography
The theme for this module is psychogeography, I am still quite confused to what the actual meaning of pyschogeography is. We were given a basic understanding of this on our first day and what I can tell you is, it is to do with the geographical environment. So its art within maps.
As I had no clue to what the main theme was about at first, this is what I found on google:
‘It is an approach to geography that emphasizes playfulness and “drifting” around urban environments. It has links to the Situationist International. Psychogeography was defined in 1955 by Guy Debord as “the study of the precise laws and specific effects of the geographical environment, consciously organized or not, on the emotions and behavior of individuals.”’
This then helped me to understand what psychogeography actually is.
